Elizabeth River Restoration Project – Update

Earlier this month, MAP Environmental Inc visited the Elizabeth River Wetland and Floodplain Project-
a significant project on the Eastern Branch of the Elizabeth River in Virginia Beach.
The project involves three primary components:
- Installation of shoreline protection
- Modification of existing stormwater conveyance ditches
- Installation of a trail and education placards at Arrowhead Elementary School
Under the City of Virginia Beach’s contract with Dewberry and its Contractor, MitRes Services,
MAP has been providing environmental services, including wetlands planting consultation
since 2022.
Based on the latest site visit and as reflected in the following photos, the project is now substantially complete and
anticipated to be done in the early Spring of 2027.
