The Youth of Ascension

Earlier this month, in one of the more compelling events in the 22-year history of Church of Ascension’s Youth Golf Classic, we witnessed great success and maybe even a stroke of divine intervention.

On May 9th, over 150 participants- golfers, sponsors, donors, and volunteers – came out to Heron Ridge Golf Club to support this important fundraiser for the Church of the Ascension. With major thunderstorms in the forecast the week leading up the event, event leaders took a calculated risk and opted to play rather than postpone the event.

With some fortuitous timing, the severe weather held off long enough for the players to complete the tournament and cap off another successful event.  Seconds later, the skies opened up and delivered an epic downpour across the Heron Ridge Golf Course, while golfers and event volunteers gathered under a covered pavilion for a terrific meal, warm fellowship, and the day’s golf highlights. It was truly a gift and perhaps a stroke of good fortune!

On the behalf of the Church of Ascension and our company, MAP Environmental Inc, we thank and applaud the many kind and generous supporters, volunteers, and donors (shown below) who together raised nearly $23,000 for the Youth of Ascension and our church.
