Fall 2025
Every Fall, whether it is business or pleasure, we take opportunities to view the spectacular foliage in Virginia. Two weeks ago, we visited southwestern Virginia and stayed in the charming town of Abingdon. Known well for its history and architecture, Abingdon is a picturesque town with notable buildings, and a delightful blend of charm, culture, and natural beauty.

Our adventure led us through the beautiful town of Abingdon and its many amenities and historic resources. However, our weekend’s journey easily led us to the iconic Virginia Creeper Trail. The 34-mile trail is so named after the Norfolk & Western Railways Abingdon line and its methodical way the train gradually inclined to the top of the mountains. The trail provides one of the most beautiful scenic routes through Southwest Virginia’s mountains and offers hiking, horseback riding, biking, and paths to many fishing locations.

We chose to bike and navigate a 10-mile stretch of the Virginia Creeper Trail between Abingdon to Alvarado. As shown below, the Virginia Creeper provided an exhilarating, majestic and fun-filled trek, and a picturesque snapshot of Southwest Virginia’s beautiful Fall foliage !
