Gone Fishing
Friends, Spring came early this year – March 20th – and freshwater fishing got off to a slow start in Virginia, especially in Hampton Roads. Some of our saltwater anglers might argue but, suffice it to say, a colder winter and cooler spring put a damper on the start of the season. Now that Spring has sprung and temperatures have risen, we have seen a nice uptick in the Hampton Roads weather and folks have “gone fishing”.
Anglers a hundred or so miles away, in southcentral Virginia, are seeing a robust start to the freshwater fishing season. Earlier this month, folks from MAP Environmental Inc took a recent trek to a 5-acre freshwater impoundment in Lunenburg County. The 5-acre lake, built in 2005 and semi-annually stocked, has been a prolific fishing venue and the company, family and friends have enjoyed great fishing success over the past 20 years. Earliest this month, around Easter, another adventure of “fishing at the lake” produced a nice haul of mostly largemouth bass and other stocked species including bluegill, red eared bream and shellcracker.
Yes, Spring has sprung, the weather is warm, and folks have indeed gone fishin’!
